Overview
The Scheme aims to:
- Support successful ARC DECRAs in establishing their research program at the University of Melbourne
- Enhance the candidate’s competitiveness when applying for the ARC DECRA scheme.
Faculties may set their own objectives and priorities in determining which candidates will be nominated for Establishment Grant support. DECRA applicants must apply to their host faculty for Establishment Grant support through whatever process the faculty deems appropriate. Establishment Grant requests must be submitted by faculties to Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC), not directly by individual DECRA applicants. For further information refer to your Academic Division Research Manager.
Funding
Chancellery will offer grants of up to $25,000 per project. To be eligible for central support, the host department/school/faculty must provide matching funding on a 1:1 basis. The minimum amount per project committed by the faculty/school/department should be $12.5 thousand to ensure the Total Establishment Grant package has an impact. Chancellery may reduce its level of support in the event that requests exceed the budget for this program.
Chancellery does not impose any restrictions on how the Chancellery funding can be used, as long as it directly supports the DECRA and their project. Faculties may enforce restrictions on the use of funding as appropriate. Chancellery Establishment Grant support is conditional on the ARC DECRA being administered by the University for its entire duration.
