Ion Chromatography

Ion chromatography is used to measure anions e.g. chloride, nitrate, sulfate.

Metrohm IC 930 Flex

Ion Chromatography (IC) is a highly selective separation technique for the determination of inorganic ions in liquid samples. Ions are separated according to their interactions with an ion-exchange stationary phase and detected with highly sensitive conductivity detector. IC provides accurate and simultaneous quantification of anions  across a broad concentration range (also possible for (cations and polar ionic compounds). Its excellent selectivity, precision, and low detection limits make IC an ideal technique for the detection of anions such as fluoride (F-), chloride (Cl-), bromide (Br-), iodide (I-), nitrite (NO2-), nitrate (NO3-) and sulfate (SO42-).

Our IC (Metrohm 930 Compact Flex) is a versatile, modular platform designed for high-performance routine and advanced analysis. Equipped with a low-pulsation high-pressure pump, precision injection valve, intelligent iColumn technology, and MagIC Net software, the system delivers excellent reproducibility, automated method control, and complete data traceability. Integrated leak detection, intelligent component recognition, and a compact design maximise operational safety and reliability.

The IC is widely used for the determination of major, minor, and trace ionic species in environmental, industrial, pharmaceutical, food, mining, agricultural, and materials research. Typical applications include water quality monitoring, nutrient analysis, process control, corrosion studies, battery and energy materials, chemical manufacturing, and environmental compliance.
