Astrid Mulder is a Melbourne-based artist who works across performance, installation, photography and video. Through a reimagining of how we interact and perceive the objects and environments that surround us, Mulder challenges conventional notions of how we observe the everyday. Her work speaks to concepts of stability and time through processes of assemblage, operation and interaction, often using her own body as a tool for narration. By examining mundane and routine physical experiences, her work engages with social issues that relate to personal and shared space.

These photographs are a part of an ongoing self-portrait series investigating Mulder’s personal and shared relationship with time and space during periods of isolation and restriction. Ideas of pace, proximity, vision and delay are explored through performative interactions and gestures documented within the artist’s home.
