Global warming has rendered much of the world uninhabitable. In a remote desert, an unnamed traveler encounters a twentieth century experiment to replicate the Earth’s systems in miniature. While the facility has long been abandoned, the project has continued operating unmanned. What we discover is a living depository, a lost fragment of the once abundant ecosystems that existed on Earth.

Damien Rudd is an Australian artist and writer. He is the author of Sad Topographies and is currently completing a PhD in art and ecology at RMIT University in Melbourne.
