Professor Patricia Piccinini

Patricia Piccinini is one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists and Enterprise Professor of Visual Arts, Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne. Her practice encompasses sculpture, photography, video and drawing and examines the nebulous boundary between the artificial and the natural in contemporary culture. In 2003 her exhibition We Are Family represented Australia at the 50^thVenice Biennale, and in 2013 she was commissioned by the Centenary of Canberra to create The Skywhale. She has received multiple grants from Arts Victoria and the Australia Council for the Arts, undertook the Australia Council Tokyo Residency in 1998, had the ISCP New York Residency in 2006 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Melbourne Art Foundation in 2014.
