Project title: How stable are gene regulatory networks across populations?
Background: It is easy to identify differences in gene expression levels between individuals. It is a lot harder to understand what these differences mean for individuals. A popular approach involves building gene co-expression networks to identify sets of genes that exhibit concerted differences. Combining data from healthy rural Indonesians and Europeans, this project will see students compare networks across these two groups, addressing questions about what it means to be healthy in these two very different places. This project is fully computational.
Suitable for: Students with an interest in gene regulation and gene co-expression networks, human evolution.
