Project title: Developing a comprehensive chimpanzee transcriptome
Background: Despite their potential to inform our understanding of human uniqueness and human evolution, transcriptomic annotations of chimpanzees remain incomplete. The aim of this project is to use the newly developed superTranscripts (Davidson et al 2017) to develop a comprehensive chimpanzee transcriptome, using publicly available data sets, and and then compare its usefulness in comparative studies of gene expression between chimpanzees, humans, and other primates.
Please note that, unusually for the lab, this project has no "wet" laboratory component!
