Professor Hannan’s laboratory studies how genes and the environment combine via experience-dependent plasticity in the healthy and diseased brain. Their research includes genetic and epigenetic models of specific brain disorders which involve cognitive and affective dysfunction, investigated at behavioural, cellular and molecular levels so as to identify pathogenic mechanisms and novel therapeutic targets.

Andrew Pask (BioSciences)
Dr Andrew Pask is Professor of Genetics in the School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on development of the reproductive system and particularly the influence of hormones and endocrine disruptors on reproductive disease. His current research is focused on hypospadias, one of the most common birth defects in humans affecting 1:125 live male births in Australia. Using mouse, human and marsupial models his research has redefined the role of hormones in penis development and the developmental and molecular mechanisms driving urethral closure.
