Multi-trait GWAS and polygenic risk scores

Abstract
The first part of this talk focuses on multi-trait GWAS methods. I’ll first introduce the MultiPhen method, then describe an extensive comparison study of the performance of different multi-trait GWAS methods and finally I’ll show results from the application of a recently developed multi-trait GWAS method that exploits summary statistics.

The second part of the talk focuses on polygenic risk scores. I’ll start by giving an overview of our PRSice software for performing polygenic risk scoring, I’ll then describe some method extensions to the basic polygenic scoring approach, and I’ll end with some results from several applied studies.

Bio
Dr O’Reilly did his PhD on developing methods for detecting positive selection in the genome with David Balding at Imperial College London. His research since has focused on method development in population genetics and genetic epidemiology, developing popular methods/software such as MultiPhen and PRSice. He is now Senior Lecturer in Statistical Genetics at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, and as such his recent work is set within psychiatric genetics.
