25 MAY: Which Resilience, Why Resilience, Whose Resilience?

A panel discussion with Max Delany, Pippa Dickson, Rose Hiscock, Melissa Keys & Simon Maidment, chaired by Vikki McInnes VIA ZOOM

Artists, and those of us who make our lives in the arts, are resilient and resourceful. However, we’re expected to be ever more resourceful as times get tougher and, certainly, the arts are called upon to ‘get us through’ troubled times – even while the existence of artists and arts organisations themselves is increasingly precarious.

Comprising a panel of leading directors and curators from our partner institutions, this discussion will consider the notions of resourcefulness and resilience in the arts. Panellists will discuss the question of where responsibility rests, and how arts organisations – themselves under enormous pressure –  might act as both agents and accomplices to artists in this scenario.

Pippa Dickson Director, Asialink Arts
Rose Hiscock Director, Museums and Collections, University of Melbourne
Melissa Keys Curator Buxton Contemporary
