Jacqueline Doughty

Jacqueline Doughty is Head Curator, Art Museums in the Museums & Collections department at the University of Melbourne. Her work in the contemporary art sector encompasses curatorial projects, research, writing, arts administration, organisational management and strategic planning in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. Most recently the Curatorial Manager at The Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne and previously Deputy Director and Senior Curator of Gertrude Contemporary, where she worked for over 15 years, Doughty managed over 150 exhibitions during this time and delivered bilateral cultural exchange programs in Malaysia, Singapore, China and Indonesia, including 35 residencies and eight international exhibitions. She also introduced Gertrude’s Visiting Curators program, which led to exhibition opportunities for local artists in New York, London, Tokyo, and throughout Europe and developed a three-year pilot Education program that encouraged the engagement of schools and community groups in Gertrude Contemporary and its programs. In addition to her curatorial projects at Gertrude, she has undertaken freelance projects for the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art and the Melbourne Art Foundation and in 2015 she undertook a residency with Performa in New York.
