Belinda Scerri


Belinda Scerri is a doctoral candidate at the University of Melbourne. Her dissertation examines Rococo interior ornament and the influence of patronage on the ascendancy of the ornemaniste in early eighteenth-century France. Her previous research concerned exotic genre paintings in the context of cosmopolitanism in Louis Quinzien art. She has worked as a curator in commercial art galleries in Melbourne and Sydney and as a researcher at Tate Britain for The Lure of the East: British Orientalist Painting. Most recently she lived in Shanghai for several years where she was a moderator with the Shanghai International Literary Festival.
