Barry Connyngham is Dean of the Faculty of the VCA and MCM. He is Emeritus Professor from both the University of Wollongong and Southern Cross University and was President of the latter 1994-2000. He was the first musician to hold the Chair of Australian Studies at Harvard University (2000-2001), has been a Churchill, Harkness and Fulbright Fellowship holder and became a Member of the Order of Australian in 1997. He has over eighty published works and more than thirty recordings including those by the London, New Zealand, Sydney and Melbourne symphony orchestras. In November 2012, his first symphony, commissioned by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra was premiered in the Sydney Opera House. In 2014 DrySpell...Deluge was premiered in Vienna by Ensemble Reconsil. This was followed in the same year by the premeire of Anzac, a large work reflecting on war and national character, written for Ten Soloists and Orchestra. Two new works have premiered in 2015, Time and Table a work for Piano Trio and Choral Ensemble and Gathering for 8-24 cellos.
