Cate Consandine is a Lecturer in Sculpture and Spatial Practice at the Victorian College of the Arts and a practising artist. She works across a wide range of formal and discursive practices, including sculpture and spatial practice, video and performance. Consandine has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1999. Solo exhibitions include Candy Cane at Gertrude Contemporary 2006, Cold Cut, Eye-Stalk at Heide Museum of Modern Art 2006, Colony at Sarah Scout Presents 2010, and Cut Colony, at the Contemporary Projects Gallery, Art Gallery of NSW 2012. International exhibitions include LOOP 08 at the International Festival & Fair for Video Art in Barcelona 2008, Contemporary Australian Video at the (ICA) Institute of Contemporary Arts in London 2008, Bibibibodibiboo Exposition international d’art actuel, Biennale of Art in Reunion Island 2009 and in 2014, Vertigo, an Asialink Arts and BLINDSIDE touring exhibition staged at Galeri Soemardja in Indonesia, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Taiwan, and the POSCO Art Gallery in South Korea. In 2002-2004 Consandine was the recipient of a Gertrude Studio Residency.
