Research Fellow in International Urban Politics
Kazi N. Fattah is a Research Fellow in International Urban Development at the Connected Cities Lab. Before joining the University of Melbourne, he had worked for BRAC in Bangladesh in the areas of community development intervention planning and design, program management, monitoring and evaluation, research and knowledge management.
Kazi’s PhD thesis examines how urban informal settlements residents in Dhaka city subjectively experience and engage with a coercive and violent state, and seek to negotiate their access to the urban polity as legitimate urban citizens. His research interests include urban informality and governance in Southern cities, social policy, civic engagement, community-driven development, and gender-based violence.
