Darcy Gunning

PhD Researcher – Faculty of Arts – "International Political Economy and Global Governance"


Darcy is an urban political economy PhD student in the Asia Institute at the University of Melbourne.

Darcy holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia, where he graduated with the Sir Harold Bailey Memorial Prize in Area Studies and the Japanese Association of Western Australia Prize in Japanese Studies. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne. Darcy has previously worked for the Australian-Indonesian Film Festival in Jakarta on a New Colombo grant and as a research intern in the United States’ Congress on the PerthUSASIA Centre’s Washington D.C. placement scholarship.

His research focuses on labour rights, new cities, and special economic zones.
